About Us

December 31st 2006

Our plane skimmed over San José, Costa Rica while the cabin crew prepared for landing. We watched with excitement as tiny bursts of light lit up the city, the first of many New Years fireworks. This city was to be become our new home but at the time we had no idea what was to come. A couple hours later we tucked our boys into bed just as Costa Rica rang in the New Year.

Originally from the Portland, Oregon area, Costa Rica has been our adoptive home now for the last 18 years. Over the years we have served in a variety of ministries but everything comes back to our core vision.

Mobilize, Train, Send, and Support:

Since the early 20th century, the majority of field workers have been sent from Europe and the United States, but in the last couple decades all that has started to change. What started with a trickle of new workers from Latin America, Africa, and Asia has now become a torrent. Faithful brothers and sisters from what is known as the Global South have started to take their place in the work of making disciples of all nations. Our vision is to participate in this new rising up of Global South workers: The whole church reaching the whole world.

Karen and Douglas are sent by the Foursquare Church and serve in partnership with Youth With A Mission.

Douglas serves as the regional coordinator for YWAM Frontier Missions in Central America, and is focused on mobilization of the local church, coaching candidates as they prepare for long term service, and providing Members Care for some the workers we have launched to the field.

Karen serves as the Member Care Coordinator for YWAM Central America. She is working to train up a team to provide Member Care for Central America and Mexico, coordinates Member Care Training for our region, and provides long term support for our workers in Central America and around the world.
